Members of a commission with the State Electoral Institute extended for over a month the time to approve a request to hold a referendum regarding abortion in Baja California.

The extension was approved unanimously the Commission of Citizen Participation and Civic Education to respond to a request filed by anti-abortion activists.

The vote gives board members until March 24 to respond to the petition.
