A man whom authorities believe was a well-known criminal of the Valle de las Misiones area was killed during an assault Sunday morning.

The police said the victim was identified as Victor Manuel Camacho Bernal, 40, aka Chinola.

The police was notified about 11 a.m. by a reporting party about an injured man who was found in the intersection of Puertecito Street and Arroyo Paraíso Street.

Upon arrival, the police found the man on the street.

Eventually, paramedics declared the man dead.

Witnesses told the police the victim presumably fought with a 20-year-old man who was dressed in a red shirt and blue denim jeans.

The suspect allegedly fled towards the Viñas del Sol area.

The police then received a report a man who was causing a disturbance in the area.

The man had blood stains in his clothes and was in alleged possession of a knife. The police arrested the man who was identified as Luis Gerardo, 20.
