The state Attorney General’s office announced that the operations held recently in rural areas will continue in order to stop the criminal wave.

The agency said the multiple law enforcement agencies involved operations include checkpoints, surveillance and patrolling.

According to the authorities the operations seek to address issues happening in the Sonoran border.

So far, the operations had led to the arrest of several suspects.

Besides addressing drug smuggling and robberies the operations include community approach.

The most recent operation, held both in ground and air, included 23 agents took place in Sinaloa, Tamaulipas and Hermosillo rural towns. The U.S. Department of State has warned American citizens about the risks of visiting rural Mexicali, especially during nights.
