Aguilas de Mexicali Baseball club announced the hiring of a new athletic director.

Club President Dio Alberto Murillo recently welcomed incoming director Jose Amador to the team.

The 43-year-old spent 21 seasons in professional baseball with several teams including Navojoa, Hermosillo, Jalisco and Monterrey — all of them of the Mexican Pacific League.

The Mexicali native wore the Aguilas shirt in the 2009-2010 season and returned for retirement in the last season.

Amador was champion in the 2013-2014 season with Hermosillo and the 2018-2019 season with Monterrey.

The new athletic director was named Most Valuable Player in the 2016-2017 season, when he was also home run and RBI leader. He was also a player with the Mexican national team for the 2016 World Championship held in Mexicali.
