The Gomez Morin Bridge, located in the intersection of Gómez Morín Boulevard and Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard will be reopened Sunday, Mexicali Mayor Norma Bustamante said.
After several months of studies and rehabilitation the city will open the bridge for traffic on Nov. 7 after six months.
The Mayor said a committee will be created within the Department of Public Works in order to oversight bridges.
The agency has reported 43 bridges and tunnels that had gone without maintenance for an unknown amount of time. The state Department of Infrastructure and Urban Development is also building another bridge in the intersection of Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard and New River Boulevard that has caused traffic issues in the city.
