The Mexican Association of Vehicle Distributors announced its plans to file an appeal to the decree signed by President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador to legalize imported vehicles.

The association said in a prepared statement that the decree becomes an award for those who illegally imported vehicles and those public officials that allow it.

Illegal vehicle owners who live on the US border will be allowed to register their vehicles with a $125 fee that will end up in state coffers. Pres. López Obrador signed the decree in Ensenada over the weekend to avoid these vehicles from getting used to commit crimes.
