A Chinese New Year festival will take place Saturday in Mexicali’s China Town — an area known in Spanish as Chinesca.
State Secretary of Cultural Arts Alma Delia Abrego said Baja California is home to about 15,000 residents of Chinese descent.
The festival to celebrate the so-called Spring Party of year 4720 begins at 11 a.m. with a parade from the Pagoda, located close to the Catholic Cathedral Church, to the Wok Museum along Juarez Avenue.
The festival also includes the dancing of the lion and the dragon, musical acts and Tai-chi performances
The free of cost event includes as well the sale of food, arts and crafts.
The festival ends at 8 p.m.
