A woman died Saturday evening after a light pole fell to the ground during a Christian Church pantry delivery event, according to media reports.

The incident was reported at 7 p.m. in Colonia Carranza neighborhood.

The fatal victim was identified as Maria de la Luz Herrera Reyes, 47.

The event was taking place in a basketball court located in the intersection of Street 92 and G Street.

Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed the death.

A 21yearold woman and a 29yearold man got injured after a lighting pole fell.

Witnesses told the police a truck was passing by and, apparently, the pole fell due to its condition and the vibration.

Apparently, the pole’s basement was damaged by wire thieves. According to the reports a fence was partly stolen from the city’s sports facilities.
