After over a year of restrictions caused by the pandemic the City of Mexicali decided to partially reopen the Zoo.
However, the Civic Center site was reopened just for families, guided tours, and private parties.
City Zoo Manager Geovanny Lopez said the Department of Public Health previously approved protocols for the reopening.
López said the Zoo has not reopened for big party holding.
The site has held guided tours like the ongoing Christmas one and others while some areas had been adapted to allow visits to these areas.
The site will be home to the new Parental Visiting Center. López said the partial reopening has allowed the Zoo to raise funds to pay salaries and year-end bonuses.
