Two Mexican Institute of Social Security resigned Monday after the death of a woman during a cesarean surgery.

The Institute’s delegate in Baja California Desiree Sagamaga said the resignations of the director and assistant director of Clinic 31 were accepted Monday.

Also, the delegate said internal investigations continue to determine why Keren Vallejo died last week.

Vallejo was hospitalized to deliver her second child.

However, due to complications the mother was transferred from Clinic 30 to Clinic 31.

The institute turned a different body to the state Coroner’s office. Eventually, Vallejo’s body was turned but with no organ tissues.

Baja California Governor Marina Avila wrote in Facebook the state will provide help to the mother’s family and discussions with the Institute are still ongoing.
