A man and a woman who have been accused for the Dec. 27 murder of an individual in the Colonia Orizaba area were indicted by a state judge.
The state Attorney General’s office said Gerardo Manuel, aka Chino, and Suzzette, aka Pepsi, were indicted for the murder of Jose Luis Cervantes Guzman, 22.
The victim was in a residence with another woman when the suspects arrived.
The suspects then assaulted the victim with a knife.
The victim succumbed to the injuries at the scene, the agency said.
The male suspect was also injured and transported to the General Hospital where the couple was apprehended.
Man shot to death in rural area
A man was shot to death in a drive-by shooting Thursday in the town of Los Algodones, according to media reports.
El Crimen news website reported that the incident was notified to the police at 11:24 a.m. by E Street.
The first report said the victim had crashed into a residence.
Upon arrival, the police observed the driver of a Honda Accord had a gunshot wound.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene and declared the man’s death.
The victim was identified as Daniel Avelar Padilla, 36, who was arrested in October for possession of guns and drugs.
According to the report the suspects shot the victims from a black Volkswagen Jetta.
As of Thursday, ten people had been murdered in the city in 2022.
Woman found dead in southern area
The body of a 25-year-old woman was found lifeless Tuesday south of the city, according to media reports.
At 4:32 a.m. the police received a report regarding the finding of a woman inside a residence located by Casa Alvarado Street in the Portales area.
Upon arrival, the police found the woman’s fiancée who was identified as Anselmo, 25.
According to the report the individual allegedly killed Nora Nayeli Peña Ibarra with a knife after an argument.
The man was detained for questioning.
Corpse found burned in rural area
The corpse of a man was found burned out Thursday in an empty lot of a rural area.
According to media reports, the body was located noon close to a telecommunications tower and a church by Leonardo Bravo Quintero Street in the Colonia Ladrillera area.
The police found the corpse among burned tires.
Also, the authorities found clothes like a blue jacket, denim jeans and red underwear, as well as a cell phone and a bracelet. The body was turned to the state Coroner’s office for identification and to determine the cause of death.
