At least four structures in the downtown area are expected to get rehabilitated, according to a city official.
Downtown Trust Coordinator Fernando Félix said among the buildings expected for rehabilitation by private parties is CineLux — an old movie theatre located almost across the Catholic Cathedral Church.
Months ago a private investor rehabilitated the old Curto movie theatre that now houses a bar, several small shops and a gathering area on the second floor that have attracted hundreds of residents and visitors.
Félix warned that rehabilitation of the four structures is not a done deal. However, he said there is a significant interest.
According to the coordinator, interested parties are not only tourism businesses but from several other sectors. Also, the authorities plan to rehabilitate a couple of parking sites to increase visiting.
