State education and healthcare employees started Monday getting their Covid-19 vaccine booster, Secretary of Public Health Adrian Medina said 110,000 vaccines will be administered.
State Secretary of Education Gerardo Solis said the booster is needed given as schools are expected to reopen next month.
Teacher unions had expressed concerns for the reopening without vaccine booster.
Teachers were administered the Chinese Cansino dose that has not been accepted by the US Centers for Disease Control
In Mexicali, healthcare and education staff was administered the vaccine in the fairgrounds and Public hospitals.
The state will remain in the yellow tier under the epidemiological light system until at least after Christmas.
