An 85-year-old man died after his Colonia Independencia area home got engulfed in flames early Tuesday.

According to media reports the incident was notified to the authorities at 7 a.m.

The reporting party told the authorities a fire was occurring in a residence located at 1141 Francisco Javier Mina Street.

The authorities found inside the residence the burned corpse of the victim, who was identified as Pedro.

Neighbors told the authorities an explosion was heard in the residence. Firefighters found at the scene three 45-kilogram gas tanks that were damaged by the fire.
