Although the city warned residents with fines in case of use or sale of fireworks Catholic parishioners reportedly used fireworks during a recent Virgen de Guadalupe procession, according to media reports.
City Environmental Protection Director Manuel Zamora said fireworks were used just outside the Cathedral Church, La Voz newspaper reported.
The agency has contacted Church officials to warn once again about the firework ban.
Zamora said only one report has been made.
Church representatives said firework users came from other towns that are unaware of the new regulations. The director said only a verbal warning was made about the incident.
