Six of the eight individuals involved in a teacher credit union fraud case appeared in court Wednesday.

La Voz newspaper reported that over 1,500 victims were affected by the Caja Ahorro Magisterial credit union alleged fraud.

Victims claim they were robbed close to 1.5 billion pesos or about $75 million.

Suspects were identified by the newspaper as Dalila Consuelo, José Alfredo, Alexandra, Elver Daniel, Minet and César. Two other suspects missed the hearing for health issues.

Over 80 claimants’ attorneys appeared in court who were named one by one for about two hours.

Attorney Juan Vidaurri said it took years before victims were able to see their cases processed.

The attorney added that 46 victims had already died in these years.
