Mexican military personnel arrested five alleged criminals Monday evening after a shooting reported in a rural area ranch.

The Department of National Defense said the incident took place in the Garibay Ranch in Ejido Chiapas 3 rural town.

Among those arrested was an individual identified as Wicho Garibay, 30. The suspect was seriously wounded as well as two officers.

The injured men were transported to the General Hospital.

The authorities also arrested Manuel Antonio, 21, of Tijuana, Jesus Omar, 52, of Ensenada, Luis Mario, 17, of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, and Adrian, 22, of Durango.

Military personnel were first involved in the incident. State and municipal officers arrived later. A police report says the shooting was reported to the authorities at 6:31 p.m. at the Manuel Garibay Ranch.
