The Mexican Department of Communications and Transportation announced Monday that a former city official has become the delegate in Baja California.

In a prepared statement, the agency said Secretary Jorge Díaz-Leal took the oath to Georgina Estela Wilhelmy Woolfolk as the new agency Director in Baja California.

The official, who became Mexicali City Public Works Director under Mayor Norma Bustamante, is a civil Engineer from the Autonomous University of Baja California. She also has Masters degrees from three Mexican colleges, used to be state delegate of a Mexican government-owned bank.

Wilhelmy Woolfolk is the first woman to locally lead the Mexican agency.
