Although now former Baja California Governor Jaime Bonilla held morning live social media reports about Covid-19 and other issues the state spent about 2 million pesos or $100,000 in Facebook and Instagram advertising.

La Voz newspaper reported that at least three ads were found in Bonilla’s page. None of the ads had the advertiser’s name disclosed.

The most expensive ad was a video that promoted the Attorney General’s office. The ad had a cost of close to a million pesos or $50,000 and was active between November 2019 and April 2020.

The other ads called social media users to combat the fake news reported by the media, the newspaper said.

During his term, Gov. Bonilla repeatedly said his administration did not spend public funds to promote his personal image.

Bonilla’s 1.7 million followers page was turned inactive on Halloween — his last day in office.
