Four individuals who the authorities believe belong to the Garibay criminal bands were arrested Saturday after a chase by rural Mexicali streets.

The incident was first notified to the Mexicali Police Department at 4 p.m. after a shooting occurred in the Guadalupe Victoria rural town.

Police officers were deployed to the scene and were unsuccessfully shot by the suspects.

No injuries were reported.

State and municipal police agents arrested the suspects, who were identified as Jose Domingo, 40, Genaro, 22, Misael, 16, all of Guadalupe Victoria, and Jose Alfredo ,36, of Sinaloa.

The suspects were nabbed after crashing a tan colored Chevrolet Tahoe that was reported stolen.

Inside the vehicle the police found four AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, a grenade, several ammunition bullets, and military vests.

The suspects were turned to the Mexican Attorney General’s office.

The driver of a second black SUV was arrested in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.
