Four individuals were nabbed early Saturday in downtown Mexicali after allegedly being found by the police with a ladder.

Mexicali Police said the incident took place at 1:32 a.m. in the intersection of Cristobal Colon Avenue and D Street.

The suspects were identified as Jose Miguel, 23, Jonathan Antonio, 21, Luis Alberto, 28, and Edgar Ernesto, 17.

According to the report a US Border Patrol agent notified the police about an immigrant smuggling attempt in the area.

The US agent gave the police a description of the suspects. Police officers found and arrested the suspects, who were eventually turned to the Mexican Attorney General’s office.
