The administration of now former Governor Jaime Bonilla ended back in November with several anomalies now detected by the Mexican Auditor’s office.
Tribuna Económica news website reported that Mexico disbursed 22.2 billion pesos or about $1.1 billion in Fiscal Year 2020.
The agency audited close to three quarters of those funds.
The Auditor’s office said in a report anomalies were found in about 200 million pesos or around $10 million of those funds.
In some cases, the authorities did not include backup documents to justify those expenditures. In others, expenditures were found in noncompliance or violated contract law.
In at least two other cases the Auditor’s office detected prices above regular cost.
Also, the agency reported anomalies in public health fund expenses.
