While activists called state authorities to stop “harassing” feminist collectives in the investigations of the damages caused to the state Attorney General’s office headquarters last month Governor Marina Avila provided the public with an estimate of damage costs.

In a press conference, activists said Tuesday detectives have allegedly harassed those detained as suspects for burning the agency’s headquarters on May 1st.

Gov. Avila said the state supports all proposals to stop violence against women, but highlighted that violence will not eliminate violence.

“I am convinced that no building, work of art or furniture is worth more than a human life,” Gov. Avila said.

The governor assured that investigations will continue to find those responsible for causing the 6 million pesos of about $300,000 damages. Gov. Avila said the state is open to dialogue and address collectives’ issues.
