MEXICALI — Baja California Governor Jaime Bonilla led his second and last Grito de Independencia ceremony in Mexicali’s Civic Center Wednesday evening.
The event is held every year the night of Sept. 15 to begin Mexico’s Independence Day celebration that continues the next morning with a military parade. This year the parade was cancelled.
Separately, Mexicali Mayor Guadalupe Mora held another Grito event during Mexicali’s fair named Fiestas del Sol in Spanish.
