A Haitian woman died Saturday evening in the General Hospital due to injuries allegedly caused by her boyfriend.

The victim was identified as Kerverson Pierre, 38.

The incident was notified to the authorities at 9 a.m. in a home located at Nueva Zelanda Street and Japón Street.

Upon arrival the police were notified that screams and fight noises were heard inside a bedroom rented to a Haitian family.

The injured woman was transported to the General Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries an hour after the assault.

The police arrested a man who was identified as Sainrilus, 40. This is the first homicide of this kind reported since Haitian immigrants had arrived in the city.
