The use of school uniforms in a state high school system is now considered optional. Besides, students can now wear the uniform of their choice according to their gender preference.

Colegio de Bachilleres High School System Chief Institutional Image Officer Jorge Angel Rocha told La Voz newspaper students are suggested to wear a squared skirt or cherry slacks and a white blouse or a white shirt.

The new criterion was adopted in this administration, the official said.

“Uniform is not mandatory, but a recommendation we make to parents and students for a security and identity issue,” Rocha said. “Whoever feels identified with the female gender can now wear a skirt.” The system will not deny students without uniforms from entering a campus in order to stop limiting their education rights.
