Baja California high schools started to reopen Tuesday amid the so-called fourth wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.

State Secretary of Education Gerardo Solis said although all returning students have potentially been vaccinated campuses and systems will be allowed to decide whether classes are provided on a hybrid basis or in schools, depending on public health authorities.

State Epidemiologist Oscar Zazueta said vaccination rates among teenagers allows authorities the possibility to return to campuses under safe protocols.

The official also highlighted the reduction of Covid-19 cases in the last week. While some systems reopened Tuesday others will return to campuses within the next few weeks.
