The number of homicides in Mexicali has increased once again during April, according to police reports.

So far this month the city has recorded 32 homicides.

In the year 104 murders have been reported with January the bloodiest with 34.

In February, the city recorded 21 homicides and 17 in March.

Mexicali Police Chief Pedro Ariel Mendívil expresses his concerns for the increase.

“Whether we stopped doing something or something happened,” Mendívil told news reporters.

Of the 32 homicides of this month 28 were caused by firearms, the Chief explained.

At least 10 of April’s homicides we’re gang related or caused by domestic violence. The police received 5,890 calls and arrested close to 500 suspects for misdemeanors and crimes.
