Mexicali General Hospital has allegedly been almost full of patients with Coronavirus, according to media reports.

Over the weekend paramedics reported that patients had to wait in line as beds were insufficient, La Voz newspaper reported.

The issue was also brought to the public eye by a hospital nurse.

The state Department of Public Health reported that Mexicali has 935 active cases, well above the 881 of the State’s largest city.

Secretary of Public Health Alonso Perez Rico denied the allegations by adding that the hospital has mixed units that are not exclusive to Coronavirus patients.

The state official said patients without Covid-19 had filled the hospital’s beds. “If we must keep this hospital just for Covid-19 we will do it,” he said.
