The state Attorney General’s office said about 900 people has been reported missing in Baja California just this year.
Attorney General Ricardo Ivan Carpio clarified that the figures constantly change as many of those reported missing are false cases.
The agency records those cases as either missing or not found. The difference lies in whether the missing individual disappeared for unknown reasons or not.
Most of those reported missing have been found dead in canals, empty lots and undeveloped sites.
Also, most of those bodies are found by the San Felipe Highway or in the Laguna Salada area. The agency plans to implement changes to provide units to find missing people with additional tools like equipment and staff to help victim relatives.
