Once imported and registered illegal vehicles will be allowed to enter the US, a business leader said.

Mexicali Customs Agency President Jonathan Diaz told La Voz newspaper illegal vehicle owners must first unregister their vehicles in the US.

Diaz said these vehicles were crossed illegally through the border and are still registered.

Also, Mexico requests three days before importing vehicles to make sure they are not stolen.

Also, customs agents are mandated to make sure vehicles are not stolen before their importation.

Diaz suggested vehicle owners first unregister their vehicles in the Department of Motor Vehicles over the internet and avoid any issues.

Once registered illegal vehicle owners will also be able to travel all over the Mexican territory. Vehicle registration began Thursday in Mexicali with an expected cost of about $500, Chamber of Commerce President Lidia Granados told La Crónica newspaper.
