Due to the high numbers of active Covid-19 cases the state Department of Education decided to suspend the in school instruction.
Students, teachers and staff were scheduled to return to classrooms Monday.
In Wednesday, state Secretary of Education Gerardo Solis said instruction will remain mainly virtual as has happened for months.
School staff and administrators will also work from home, he said.
On Tuesday, the state returned to the orange tier of the epidemiological light system.
Sec. Solis said only those schools that were in the hybrid mode will stay the same.
The state official said high schools and colleges will return to school next month, unless otherwise decided.
The Secretary said the state supports and is ready for in school instruction.
On Wednesday the state recorded 1,035 new cases, of which 325 were of Mexicali. Also, of the 6,427 active cases 1,670 are Mexicali patients.
