Fruits, vegetables and eggs are some of the items that have recorded price increases of between 10 and 30 percent, Mexicali Chamber of Commerce President Lidia Granados said.

The chamber president told La Voz newspaper that egg price has climbed in the last couple months from 49 to 80 pesos per kilogram. That translates into up to $2 per pound.

Granados explained that item prices have increased by up to 45 percent and have impacted consumers.

According to the chamber president prices have augmented even more in some cases. The chamber president said in Calexico eggs cost up to $7.
