A state lawmaker introduced a resolution that calls for a probe of the operational conditions of the Carlos Canseco senior resident shelter.

Assemblywoman Amintha Briceño said the assurance of items being provided to the shelters to provide services while respecting labor rights of employees.

The lawmaker said several complaints have been received about the poor conditions in the Mexicali Valley shelter, including low quality food.

Briceño said employees filed labor complaints based on their working conditions.

The legislator added that the shelter lacks an ambulance and has no surveillance security cameras and monitors.

The site is home to about 84 senior residents.
