State lawmakers approved a resolution that calls Mexican officials to reduce border wait times.
Members of the Political Coordinating Council asked Secretary of Foreign Relations Marcelo Ebrard to negotiate with US authorities to make border crossing more efficient, agile, and secure.
The request was extended to Mexico’s Customs Director Horacio Duarte, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the California Legislature. The proposal, introduced by Assemblyman Román Cota, seeks to improve border crossing for economic, social and commercial purposes by expediting the flux of labor, goods and money.
