A man who was accused of the 2018 murder of a woman was found guilty by a state judge, according to media reports.

La Voz newspaper reported that Sergio Enrique was found guilty of femicide for the murder of Valeria Ahumada Jáuregui, 23.

Judge Sandra Sofía Rubio issued the ruling Wednesday for the April 2018 murder.

The judge briefly recalled testimonials and evidence provided by prosecutors during the final argument of the case.

The convicted man will be sentenced Tuesday. The individual faces a potential 50-year sentence. Victim relatives held several demonstrations to demand justice.
