Man nabbed with nine Asian immigrants close to fence

MEXICALI — A man was nabbed early Wednesday in a rural area while transporting nine Asian immigrants, Mexicali Police said.
The incident took place at 6 a.m. by the State Highway 2 in Ejido Janitzio rural town.
The suspect was identified as Jesús Gerardo Doe, aka “Jera.”
According to the police the suspect was driving a black 2004 Lincoln Navigator about 200 yards from the border fence in the Colorado River area.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the police said officers observed the Navigator was transporting more passengers than those permitted.
The police said the suspect was nervous.
Police agents asked for the driver’s identification.
According to the authorities the suspect told agents that he was going to take his passengers closer to the border fence.
Then, an immigrant smuggler was going to guide the individuals to the U.S.
The suspect was arrested in the scene.
The police said the immigrants from Nepal, Bangladesh and India were identified as Rashedul “N”, Yeasin “N”, Sobui “N”, Yousuf “N”, Jashanpreet “N”, Arshpreet “N”, Inderjit “N”, Prem “N,” and Shyam “N.”
