Manufacturing in Baja California recorded last year a 12.7 percent growth rate — almost double the nation’s average.

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography said the state was fifth just below Nayarit, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Tabasco.

State Secretary of Economy Kurt Honold explained that the growth rate returned to positive after two years of decline.

In 2019 the State’s industrial activity increased 2.6 percent while in 2020 it declined 3.8 percent. Sec. Honold said the report gives authorities a positive expectation of the economy’s improvement after the two-year pandemic.
