The new 180 MW energy plant under construction in the Ejido Cuernavaca area is expected to dismiss any power issues in Mexicali’s future.
However, Mexicali Mayor Norma Bustamante recently told reporters the Federal Electricity Commission’s plant will open in seven months — once summer is well over.
The plant is part of the correction protocol by Mexico’s National Center of Energy Control.
The state records a 650Mw energy deficit, which leads to power outages almost every summer here.
Recently, the state decided to shut down the wind farm in La Rumorosa. Its power is used to provide energy to the City of Mexicali. The mayor said in that regard the authorities are still wondering what the impact would be.
