Mexicali fighters Anel Felix and Leslie Soltero will compete this week along with another Baja Californian athlete in the Pan American Taekwondo Championship.
The tournament began Tuesday in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The Pan American Taekwondo Union sanctions the tournament and provides winners points for the 2024 Olympics.
Felix, in the -57 kilogram, and Soltero in the -67 kilogram divisions fight Wednesday. Daniela Souza, of Tijuana, fights in the -49 kilogram division.
The trio plans to compete in the Dominican Open as well. Winners can earn up to 60 points in both tournaments for the Olympic qualifiers.
