Mothers who belong to a couple of collectives that had searched for their disappeared relatives reported issues with the banners installed in several Mexicali bridges.
Collective members held a demonstration in City Hall in order to know where those banners ended up.
The banners were installed a week ago in order to find help from community members in their search for their loved ones.
Irma Leyva, of the United and Strong Mothers told La Voz newspaper that those banners help given the lack of support from the Attorney General’s office.
Collective member Marlene Castro told the newspaper that one of the banners was found destroyed in a trashcan.
Members have asked authorities to return and repost banners in busy streets.
Mexicali Mayor Norma Bustamante denied that the banners were removed by City staff.
