A police officer shot a man who allegedly killed his own father early Friday, according to media reports.

The incident was reported at 12:20 a.m. in a Colonia Colosio area home.

The first report indicated that an armed man was holding his family hostage.

Upon arrival, Mexicali police officers observed the suspect who was holding his father against his will.

Suddenly, the suspect shot at his father in the chest.

Then, the suspect attempted to flee and shot at the police officers.

The agents responded to the individual who was identified as Luis Fernando Ayón Ojeda, 32.

Paramedics arrived and declared the suspect’s death.

The suspect’s father, who was identified as Esteban Ayón Carranza, was also declared dead. The police found at the scene a firearm that was allegedly used during the incident by the suspect.
