Tokyo 2020 weightlifting medalist Aremi Fuentes has decided to follow a brand new path in her career after starting a college program.
The bronze medalist held a meeting with School of Sports Dean Emilio Arrayales in order to discuss the program of Physical Activity and Sports with the Autonomous University of Baja California.
Fuentes has joined an asynchronous program that allows the Olympic weightlifter to attend classes dependent upon her training.
“I was disappointed because there was no college plan for a high performance athlete,” Fuentes was quoted in a University press release.
The athlete will be able to combine her studies with training.
“This makes me feel very secure and excited to return to school,” the athlete said.
Fuentes and Dean Arrayales toured the school’s facilities, including a brand new laboratory equipped with top-notch technology of biomechanics, physiology, chemistry and other areas.
