The issuance of Mexican passports has been delayed in the last days in the Department of Foreign Relations, according to media reports.
La Voz newspaper reported that issues with the system’s platform had prevented applicants from obtaining the document.
A valid passport is needed to apply for US visas.
The newspaper said issues were first brought to the public’s attention early Tuesday when applicants reported the problem.
However, some users told the newspaper system failures were first detected since Friday.
The local Department office manages about a couple hundred passports daily. Issues were expected to get solved Wednesday.
