Mexicali Police Chief Pedro Ariel Mendívil announced Thursday the launching of a new LGBTQ protocol.
During a meeting with members of the LGBTQ community Chief Mendívil said the protocol’s goal is to have a more humane and respectful law enforcement agency to provide improved services.
The protocol includes training to treat LGBTQ members with respect.
Also, the agency plans to hold meetings with experts for needed protocol updating to preserve an environment of respect and equality. The protocol was announced weeks after a transgender police officer accused supervisors and colleagues of harassment.
