Two Mexicali police officers were assaulted while responding to a report of damages to the border fence Tuesday night.
According to media reports, the incident took place in Fraccionamiento Las Hadas neighborhood about 9 p.m.
While patrolling the Bernardo Reyes Ave., the police observed a man who was causing damages to the border fence.
Upon approaching the suspect, two automobiles arrived in and several suspects assaulted the police officers.
The suspects then fled on a Ford F150, a Nissan Versa and a Toyota Tacoma.
Several other police agents arrived in and searched for the suspects.
The police arrested a man who was identified as Jesús Antonio, 28.
The other suspects were able to abscond in a property. The assaulted agents got minor injuries and were transported to a hospital.
