Officers of the Mexican National Guard shot an alleged member of a criminal band in San Felipe early Wednesday, according to media reports.

El Crimen news website reported that agents asked the driver of a gray 2010 Dodge Charger to stop the vehicle.

However, the driver brandished a firearm and shot at the officers.

Agents responded to the fire and injured the suspect.

Red Cross paramedics provided first aid to the suspect, who succumbed to the injuries. The National Guard seized a .223 caliber handgun and a .380 firearm that were found inside the vehicle.
