State private schools partially reopened Monday as has occurred in the last months.

Officials of the state Department of Education held a meeting last week with private schools representatives in order to discuss the matter.

Secretary of Education Gerardo Solís met with members of the Coalition of Private Schools of the State of Baja California after the authorities decided to temporarily suspend the return to in school instruction.

Hundreds of thousands of students were scheduled to return Monday to schools, but due to the recent wave of Coronavirus cases the authorities decided to suspend the reopening.

Private schools said although the decision has received the support of the education community students returned under the hybrid schedule that has been ongoing for months. The state of Baja California is home to around 800 private schools or 18 percent of the state’s total schools.
