A state official announced that the use of face masks in schools will be optional.
State Secretary of Public Education Gerardo Solis said face masks protocols will remain in public schools to protect students, teachers and staff.
The state official said although COVID-19 cases have been decreasing teachers will be allowed to keep using face masks at schools if necessary.
Over the weekend, Governor Marina Avila announced that the use stopped being mandatory starting Monday both indoors and outdoors. The Department of Public Education said no schools have been closed due to Coronavirus outbreaks.
