A state official said a registry of sexual criminals — similar to the US Megan’s Law list — is underway and potentially ready by August.

Secretary of Government Catalino Zavala said the Public Registry of Sexual Offenders makes the state comply with provisions included in the Law of Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence.

According to the state official, the Judiciary and the Legislature are also taking part in the project.

Sec. Zavala said the Judiciary must first provide information related to court sentences in order to produce the registry.

The list would be similar to the one produced by Mexico City. The registry was approved by legislation enacted last year.
